Yes, there are programs out there that do provide this Emergency Home Responce Unit, it will give you peace of mind knowing that if you fall, help is near. Many families have great distance between children and care givers, and having that extra peace of mind benefits everyone. Question:

My income is very low, less than $1,000 a month. Is there help for those drawing Social Security to pay the premiums they hold out of my check each month and also help with my prescription drug plan?

Answer:

Yes, there is EXTRA HELP, if you contact your local Senior Center or outreach office; staff is available to assist you with the many benefits that will provide you with a better quality of life.

 

Question:

Is there a place where I can get my blood pressure checked without going to the Doctor?

Answer:

Yes, Local Senior Centers have many events that also sponsor a blood pressure screening, check in your local community.

 

Question:

My friends state they pay less than $30 for their license plate sticker, is that true?

Answer:

Yes, there is a program in Illinois that allows a discount on license plate stickers for those with a low income, call your local Senior Center for more information or to schedule an appointment.

 

Question:

I think I may have had someone here to do home repairs and they really did not complete them or they took my money for supplies and never came back, who can help me? I don't want y children to know I made such a terrible decision.

Answer:

Yes, your local Senior Center has staff trained that can assist you from becoming a victim to home repair fraud, cams and foreign lotteries, and many times they can help you get your money back if you are not satisfied or the work was not completed, the VOCA programs successes are many. All calls are confidential; your situation would never be discussed with anyone, unless you gave consent.

Since I am getting a bit older, I could sure use a little help with light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry and other tasks, is there a program where I can get some assistance, oh, and by the way; I do not have a large income.

Answer:

Yes, the State of Illinois Department of Aging has the Community Care Program available for you. We want you to continue to live independently in your OWN home, for as long as you can. Call Senior Services today at 1-800-283-4070 and make an appointment for a State Certified Care Coordinator to come out and speak with you about the Community Care Program. There is no cost for this service. There are certain program guidelines that do determine eligibility, but the Care Coordinator will go over that inforamtion with you in your home.  Call Today....
